Provides Basic Life Support including medical evaluation, treatment and stabilization of the critically ill and injured; responds to emergency rescue situations involving potential loss of life or bodily in! jury; maintains control, manages and directs patient care at the scene of a pre-hospital emergency; provides training and instruction to lesser trained personnel; works within hospital emergency room in a team environment with other caregivers providing BLS treatment as directed.

DUTIES

Responds promptly and efficiently to pre-hospital calls for emergency assistance.
Drives emergency vehicles in a safe and efficient manner during both emergency and non emergency tasks.
Maintains scene safety, protecting oneself, crew members, and the public.
Performs rapid patient assessments addressing patient care needs properly and accurately, conforming to Medical Standing Orders. Includes maintaining patients age specific competencies.
Properly documents patient conditions and changes.
Assists EMTAs and Paramedics with higher level skills, (i.e. IV setup, monitor setup, etc.).
Maintains accurate patient and ambulance run logs, turning in forms ! in a timely manner.
Maintains proficiency with appropriate! EMT level equipment and supplies.
Regularly meets monthly shift requirements.
Assists in covering standing and special event coverage.

Restocks and cleans ambulance after each call and/or transfer.
Hospital - Maintains and sustains professional ethics and promotes patient's bill of rights.
Hospital - Performs 12-lead EKG's as directed by staff.
Hospital - Assists with data gathering by direct observation and interaction with the patient /family/significant other to identify physical, psychosocial and emotional needs.
Hospital - Evaluates, documents, and reports patient's response to interventions.
Hospital - Assists in the coordination and implementation of the patient's plan of care based on identified individual needs as directed by the registered nurse or healthcare provider.
Hospital - Maintains personal and patient safety during all aspects of intervention and documen! ts all safety measures in the patient's medical record.
All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required
State of Idaho EMT - Basic Certification
High school diploma or equivalency
Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
Good interpersonal skills in dealing with patients, families, co-workers, other departments and health care professionals
Basic knowledge in computer use, including word processing and spreadsheet applications
Excellent organizational skills
Maintains and follows guidelines set for standards of practice in quality patient care, and infection control practices as required by state, federal, and the facility
CPR/BLS Healthcare Certification
Must be able to lift over 50 lbs. regularly and up to 100 or 150 lbs. as needed

Preferred
Experience working in a healthcare environment
Additional languages preferred
