Description: West Valley Medical Center-Idaho is looking of Operating Room/Sterile Supply Aide- PRN right now, this vacancy will be placed in Idaho. Responsible for cleaning and sterilizing surgical instruments and equipment; cleaning OR rooms; and assisting with pre and post-operative care of patients.
St! erile processing and instrument inventory. Cleans and disinfects instruments and trays. Inspects instruments to ensure proper cleaning, disinfection and functioning. Performs sterilizer testing and maintains sterilization logs. Performs autoclave testing and maintains daily/weekly logs and charts. Properly assembles and wraps sets, seals peal-packs. Properly labels trays and peal-packs. Uses instrument inventory lists to assure that sets are complete and count is correct. Demonstrates competence in knowledge and use of washer/disinfector, ultrasonic cleaner, Steris equipment, and all other sterilization equipment.
Perioperative housekeeping. Cleans operating rooms in a timely manner and as per departmental policy. Returns equipment to appropriate storage places.
Documentation. Documents patient information appropriately and assists with assembly of patient record in Day Surgery. Demonstrates competence in Meditech. Labels documents appropriately with patie! nt's name and medical record number.
Nursing assistan! ce duties. Assists with patient admissions and discharges in Day Surgery.
Patient safety. Demonstrates an awareness of and competence in ensuring patient safety, including medical/healthcare error reporting; the interdisciplinary collaborative team approach to patient care planning; and the prevention of contamination and transfer of infection; and maintaining a sterile field. Properly handles sterile packages. Safely transports patients.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED. Completion of CNA program recommended.
BLS required.
Ability to collect, interpret and report data and information related to patient care; ability to deliver safe and effective patient care with scope of practice; ability to interact and communicate effectively with others; ability to prioritize multiple activities and problem-solve with assistance from supervisory personnel as appropriate.
Prefer 1-2 years acute-care experience.
