Position Summary:To assist the Chief Nursing Officer in the planning, administering, and directing of the activities of the Nursing Department. The Associate Chief Nursing Officer is also responsible for providing leadership to ensure the optimal delivery of quality care, customer service and education within established standards. Direct management of the following departments: Float/Transition Pool, House Supervisors Education and Care Coordination. General Responsibilities* Provides administrative support for assigned functions of the Chief Nursing Officer* Completes an executive assessment tool prior to starting the program as a guide for their goals and executive development for their assigned facility.* Completes facility-training assignments and scheduled training seminars at HCA.* The CNO mentor's role is to ensure all assigned work and assignments have a developmental component to them. Potential assignments may include but are not limited to: Patient Care, Education and Advocacy, Communication and Customer Satisfaction, Self-Development and Ethics. ESSENTIAL DUTIES METHODS AND TECHNIQUES:Works closely with the CNO in the development and implementation of the hospital's plan for nursing care.In the absence of the CNO, assumes those duties as appropriate. Assumes 'Administrator on Call' responsibilities as assigned.Engages in studies and investigations related to improving nursing care.Develops and implements nursing policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of patient care and helps coordinate the interdisciplinary delivery of patient care through participation on the Interdisciplinary Practice Council.Works with the CNO in recruiting, retaining and developing nursing department directors, managers and staff nurses.Works closely with the CNO, Nursing Directors/ Managers and the Education and Human Resource Departments to determine the qualifications and competencies of nursing department personnel.Serves on and/or chairs a wide variety of hospital committees and task forces that include, but are not limited to: JCAHO Survey Prep Team, Interdisciplinary Practice Council, Hospital Quality Improvement Council, Safety Committee, Medication Safety Team, Institutional Review Board, Facility Security Committee, Professional Bonus Approval Committee.Demonstrates maturity and accountability for job performance. Supports the philosophy, objectives and goals of the hospital and the nursing department and assesses areas of personal and professional growth. This involves:" Maintaining an effective rapport with patients, visitors, physicians, subordinates, other directors and administration." Demonstrating ethical and appropriate behavior for a clinical environment to include, but not be limited to, dignity, patient's rights and privacy, and the maintenance of confidentiality of patient information.Demonstrates and applies knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the employee's needs and populations of patients served in the departments supervised.Adheres to the hospital's policies and demonstrates compliance with the Code of Ethics.Adheres to the hospital's safety policies and demonstrates safe practices. Minimum of 5 years leadership and management experience in nursing and hospital operations. Most recent 3 of the last 5 years of leadership must be in a direct leadership role in a hospital setting or direct patient care environment. * Master's degree in Nursing or BSN with MS in a related field is required.* Current Idaho Registered Nurse License without restrictions* Ability and willingness to relocate with geographic flexibility.* Comfortable usage of Microsoft Office tools with excellent communication skills* Knowledge of professional nursing principals and practices, and managerial skills typically acquired through 5 years of management or supervisory experience.
